Leo, a first-generation immigrant from Mexicali, Baja California, initially settled in East Oakland before moving to Stockton, CA. This journey has imbued him with a bicultural perspective and a profound understanding of how unjust systems perpetuate the marginalization of people of color. Leo pursued his education at CSU Monterey Bay and San Francisco State University, focusing on Humanities, Communications Studies, Audio Engineering, Creative Writing, and Social Action. His academic path aimed to explore the collective human story through culture, art, history, and narrative collection.
With over five years of experience as a Communications champion for nonprofit organizations, Leo has developed advocacy materials, crafted narrative strategies, and produced documentary photography and videos. He excels in operationalizing projects that amplify voices and address social issues. Leo integrates his skills, personal journey, and academic background to elevate the human narrative, shedding light on injustices and fostering inspiration through digital storytelling.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Leo finds joy in running, capturing street and documentary photography, composing music, creating digital art, and collecting vinyl records.
