McKenna (she/her) serves as RSSC’s Civic Engagement Coordinator. She coordinates the Backbone Leads in trainings and convenings, and consults on RSSC’s Parks Beautification and Activation Initiative.
With an academic emphasis on environmental health, McKenna’s experiences are focused on environmental justice research, community health advocacy, and sustainability program development. Most recently, she served as the CivicSpark Civic Engagement Fellow for RSSC. Previously, McKenna has volunteered with various community-based organizations in the San Diego Promise Zone. Her experiences have culminated into a passion for addressing the root causes of inequity and its resulting health disparities, and she is excited to exercise her passion for environmental justice, public health, and community engagement in her role at RSSC.
McKenna earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of California, San Diego. When not at work, she spends her time hiking, practicing yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
