Bio

McKenna (she/her) serves as a fellow for CivicSpark, an AmeriCorps program centered around building capacity for local public agencies to address community resilience issues. As a Civic Engagement Fellow, McKenna leads RSSC in its Parks Activation & Beautification initiative.

With an academic emphasis on environmental health, McKenna’s experiences are focused on environmental justice research, community health advocacy, and sustainability program development. She most recently volunteered with various community-based organizations in the San Diego Promise Zone. Her experiences have culminated into a passion for addressing the root causes of inequity and its resulting health disparities, and she is excited to exercise her passion for environmental justice in her role at RSSC.

McKenna earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of California, San Diego. When not at work, she spends her time hiking, practicing yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
