I am a Stockton native, born and raised in the city’s Sierra Vista neighborhood. Growing up in South Stockton gave me a first-hand look into various systemic injustices that face Stockton’s residents, especially marginalized communities. This led me down a path of service, graduating from California State University, Stanislaus with a B.S in Sociology, determined to help address the Central Valley’s largest issues in any way possible.
I began my career with Mi Familia Vota, utilizing boots-on-the-ground community organizing, helping Stanislaus and San Joaquin County residents with undocumented assistance, and civic engagement through canvassing and event organizing. I then transitioned those skills to the labor movement, fighting for over 23,000 Fresno County healthcare workers as a Union Organizer with SEIU 2015. Work in the labor movement taught me that the will of the people is the strongest force, as my union leaders and I helped over 1300 people become union members and successfully advocated for the largest wage increase IHSS workers in Fresno have ever seen through a historic political campaign. Making sure the marginalized are not overlooked is the service I want to continue.
Outside of my work, I enjoy catching up with old union members, listening to Hip-Hop, looking at geographical relief maps, and spending as much time as possible with my 4-year-old son.
