Helen (she/they) serves as RSSC’s Housing Justice Coordinator. Their primary role is to facilitate the Stockton Housing Justice Coalition– a resident-centered organization that empowers Stocktonians to advocate for policies that protect, promote, and preserve affordable housing. RSSC’s housing justice initiatives fall under the Neighborhood Transformation result area and include several strategies, such as promoting narrative change through resident storytelling, policy education, and advocating for systemic change.
Helen’s work experience has focused on affecting change in communities, most recently serving as the CivicSpark Housing Justice Fellow for RSSC. Prior to this, Helen worked as a Field Department intern for the Portland chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). In college, Helen worked with Massachusetts State Senator Joanne Comerford’s office on affordable housing policy. She is dedicated to applying the knowledge she gained through this experience into her housing justice work at RSSC.
Helen earned her Bachelor’s degrees in Politics and English from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. In her free time, Helen loves to cook, listen to music, hike, and spend time with friends.
